Olympic Sustainability - The IOC Sustainability Strategy
In 2021 the International Olympic Committee announced the aim of becoming 'climate positive' by 2024. The IOC set a target to reduce its direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent.
An interim target of 30 percent reduction has been set for 2024, which will mainly be achieved through the Olympic Forest project.
